Proposal for much requested mouseover functionality
-
Dear bloggers,
I have been using wordpress.com’s hosted service for a few years now without a hitch. I’m very glad with it. Today I had a bit of a setback though. I tried to make a black and white image change into color when the mouse hovers over it. This was so that I can have a clean look on the site, while clearly indicating a clickable button (the top right “menu items”, evernote, calendar, spanning sync and dropbox on my blog).
I found out that this was not possible for understandable security reasons. In my search I did find a nice tag called “[sourcecode]” with all kinds of nifty parameters and started using it on my latest post. It got me thinking:
Can WordPress.com add a feature so that we can have a custom tag where wordpress.com is incontrol of the rendering of javascript, but the blogger has control over mouseover images? I was thinking something like:
[mouseoverlink
normalimage="image1.gif"
hoverimage="image2.gif"
link="http://mycoolsite.example.com"]
Link Title here
[/mouselink]
Could you have a look if this is at all possible, and add it to the next version of wordpress? It would solve an issue many of us “hosted bloggers” have.
Thanks for the great service,
