Hi,
I want to develop a site for classified ads with a blog/discussion forum attached to it.
Looking for the following.
1. domain name and hosting
2. security- self registration for end users
3. classified- can be a customized discussion forum or blog
4. custom form additional user details + payment by putting payment button
5. multi language feature with arabic content incl english
6. report on the usage of ad based on user, topics, transaction
Got a few queries on this.
a. payment – will there be transaction log or history accessible?
b. databackup- can we get bakup regularly and we can we export users and content on need basis?
c. NFR – are there any performance SLAs?…will we get statistics for this
value added serviuces – chat bots, mobile clients support?d. per year indicative cost – including above features with hosting with average 5k / 500 thousand transactions per day

If you want to create this site on WordPress.com (rather than using WordPress.org software with another host), you will need to upgrade to the Business plan:

The features you have listed would need to be added via custom plugins and they can only be installed on WordPress.com sites using the Business plan.

Hosting is included in all of our plans. Custom domains are a feature of paid plans and each one includes a domain credit which will cover the cost of registering, mapping or transferring one domain to WordPress.com:

This information about creating multilingual sites on WordPress.com may be useful but if you are looking for functionality beyond this, it can be added through custom plugins:

I’m not sure what you mean by this. If you are looking for reporting features beyond what is available on the Stats page, they will need to be added with custom plugins — the Stats page won’t include transaction reporting, only site traffic.

There isn’t currently a way to export users though.

The Business plan includes an unlimited amount of storage space. It’s worth bearing in mind this amount does not include the cost of third party plugins you decide to purchase elsewhere.

1. Using wordpress.com:
In the below link it is given “With self-hosting, you’re typically managing your own servers, and you have more access to fine-tune configuration files. You can SSH into your server, and FTP into the site to directly manipulate code. However, more control means more responsibility. On a self-hosted site, you’ll be responsible for maintaining site security, backups, and there is not a dedicated support team for WordPress.org.”
Is self-hosting different from premium plan? Please clarify if there is a dedicated support for premium plan.

Sorry that it was not clear enough.
I am looking for reporting features which include data on transactions[for instance who purchased from the site etc] which will be available for a long period. Would that require additional plugins?
3. If I use wordpress.com, still I can hire a developer from outside and get the work done, right?
Or do you provide developers[ for theme customization/website development]? If so, shall I know the details such as rates?

Definitely. Anything hosted here is different from running your own copy of WordPress. I’m an analogy person so I think of it this way: it’s like the difference between a restaurant and a recipe. One is a service; the other is the logic (in this case code) you can use to create a site.

You’ll need the business plan and plugins for a full-featured shopping cart. Different carts will likely have different reporting options.

Absolutely. I’d recommend setting yourself up as the site / upgrade owner, then granting your developer access. That way if you decide to change developers, you can remove their account / add someone else as needed.
