What is the advantage of registering my domain name which no longer has wordpress.com ?
Upgrading to a premium package will that give me full control over my content and access to FTP files?Can my wordpress, com blog be hosted by a different company and what are the pros and cons?

Some bloggers create a contact form and after the people have made a PayPal donation they provide the link to a private page for downloading files. Maybe that will work for you.
