Protect Project Types with Password on Illustratr

    Hi,
    I’m making my portfolio website using the theme: Illustratr. I usually put up my images in “portfolio” and categorise them with “project type”. However some of my portfolios are confidential, and I wonder if it’s possible to protect a “project type” with passwords in Illustratr.

    I read I can add categories on posts and protect those “categories” with passwords using a plug-in, but I can’t layout those posts in a grid system like the portfolio page.

    Is it possible to protect a “project type” with passwords, or make a grid layout with posts that I added categories?

    Is it possible to protect a “project type” with passwords

    Passwords cannot be set on project type archive pages, because such pages are automatically generated dynamic pages. However, you may insert portfolio shortcode, customized by project type, into a page that may be password protected.

    Example portfolio shortcode:
    [portfolio columns=3 include_type=illustration]
    The above shortcode will display only projects of the project type “illustration,” in three columns.

    Protecting individual projects with passwords works the same as it does on posts and pages, so if you want to protect projects individually relevant information and instructions may found in the Changing Visibility section of the Post & Page Visibility support page.

    Not on Illustratr, but there are numerous other themes that display posts on the blog page in a grid. See the following filtered list at the Theme Showcase page: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/grid-layout.

    Thanks so much for your reply and help! I really appreciate your detailed information.
    Just to try out, I put that portfolio shortcode you gave me above into the password protected post, and it worked!! I now only need to find the bbest shortcode for the layout I want.

    I’m still thinking what’s best to do for my confidential works, but this will be definitely one of the solutions. Thank you so much!

    And the link to the Theme Showcase page really helps, too. That gives me more options to think about what’s best for the future.
