PROTECT site with password

hi, I was trying to search for ‘access to my site blog privately or with only password’ sort of features in plugins, am not getting any. I’ve free wordpress selfhost account. Did I miss anything, please guide me. thank you.

You cannot password protect a whole site hosted by wordpress.COM. You can only password protect pages and posts in a site hosted by wordpress.com.
There is no FTP access to sites hosted by wordpress.COM and no blogger installed plugin capability. Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, passwords support docs and support forums, and many people get confused about the two.
