Protected Blog > Log in
-
I have no idea what I did nor how do undo it. Still learning my way around this site. I apparently protected my blog at some point accidentally and then unprotected it. I had someone check to see if they could see it without logging in – they could. However, if I copy and paste the url to a post and paste in fb, it shows up as “Protected Blog > Log in” to see this. Also when I post a new post I have it set up to automatically share in fb which it is not doing. HELP! I want to undo whatever it is I did and I have spent about three hours trying to locate how/what to do and am coming up unsuccessful. I have already cleared cache so it’s not that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please see the Staff response here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-public-blog-says-private-when-posting-link-on-facebook?replies=11#post-658573
I know this sounds weird, but you’ll need to ask a friend who has never shared one of your posts before to share a post. This will kick Facebook’s cache back in gear. The only other know alternative is to wait for it to clear out on its own in about a week.

If that does not work then Facebook has yet to flush their caches and we have zero control on that but you can try using the Facebook debugger to expedite this by visiting https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

I tried both of those options. Had a friend copy the URL and paste but did not hit enter.. to see how it would post and the same message appeared. (No they have never shared a post of mine before) Also tried the fb debugger. So are you saying that I fixed whatever I did and there’s no ‘secret’ place I missed to undo these privacy settings and I just need to wait for FB to catch up to the changes?
-
Okay, so this is strange but may help you in understanding what’s going on. I can share the site’s URL and it shows up on FB, but not an individual post URL (that’s when FB shows the message that it’s protected..). I have gone to edit the last post just to check and in the right corner under visibility it states it is public, yet it still doesn’t work. Is there some reason why an individual post would be set to private? Some other place that I may have hit some button to do this?

Edit the post https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/#go-back-and-edit-posts and then see here please:

Okay, I went to edit per your instruction – wasn’t sure what to edit because the option for public was already there and made. I hit update and still I am running into the same issue.

What is the URL of the post please?

Everything looks okay on our end. As timethief mentioned, it’s really up to Facebook to clear their cache, and retrieve the appropriate information from your now public posts. I recommend you give it another try in a day or so.
