Protected pages not protected

Why are my protected pages still indexed by Yahoo and Google? I assured the classmates in our graduating class that if I protected their posts (which contain personal information) with a password, that it wouldn’t be consumed and indexing and search engines. But it seems these services are allowed access to protected pages anyway. I’m livid about this. For example, this post should require a password to see it (http://mountaincrest1987.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/trina-barkle/), but it is showing up indexed in Yahoo’s People Search page.

Password protected posts ARE indexed to the extent that the landing page exists with that title which is readable to search engines. The content is protected, not the title.

If you want complete privacy, you want to do a private blog and Invite your students to be members, like other teachers do.

OK. Thanks for the reply. That makes me feel better. I went back to Yahoo and Google and I believe you are correct. When Yahoo provided a “Cached” link for the protected page, it redirected me to some Yahoo Axis service, without explaining it had nothing behind the Cached link. When I tried the “>>” link to the right of the Google search result, it only had the Protected Page with the password field cached. Good enough.
