Protected posts

Transferring several web sites from HTML, where I have a designated directory for articles (posts) that only paid subscribers can access, each with their own unique password. How can I do the same on WordPress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You can password-protect individual posts on WordPress.com, but there’s no way to have posts in a separate directory that can only be accessed by certain people. Password protected posts will appear in the main post list just like non-protected posts, but will require a password to read the post. Passwords are post-specific, not member-specific:

    Post Visibility

To instead have a completely separate members-area on your site you’ll need to install a membership plugin. That requires the WordPress.com Business Plan, and members will also have to create their own WordPress.com username accounts to be able to log into the site.
