Protecting my images

Even though the images in my weblog are low res (72 dpi and appr. 550 pixels width, they can be ripped. The other day I spotted one of my images in a local newspaper. I didn’t mind, because it was in support of the story I told in the weblog, but even so –
At certain websites images are protected. If you right-klick, you can’t copy them. Instead, a small boxed text appears which says that the image is copyright protected and you have to contact the author.
Is it possible to protect images that way on WordPress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am not an official here to answer this but i thought i’d add this as i had a problem with copyright recently as i have a sketch blog..you can add watermarks to your images, as i have now done..type in online image watermark in the search engine and you will find a few….

@hanslcv: Please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We usually need that to give a relevant answer.
If an image is published in the internet, one way or another it can be copied. The only thing you can do is what rainbowsoul says.

There is no right click protection on WP.com.
The other day, I wanted a picture of Anne Boleyn, so I went online and found a few, all protected. But even though I’m a novice, I was able to copy one that I liked. Then I thought about it and decided not to use it. But if I can do it, anyone could copy your images.
Watermark, and name your images to include your name or some word you can easily image search to find people who’ve copied your work. Nothing is a certain defense though. -
Forgive me, panaghiot etc. I was under the impression the URL of my blog was linked to my name automatically.

No, you have to make the link yourself:
2. How to make your name link to your blog:
Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one. -
Anything put on the web can be copied, there is really no way to protect it, but as Tess says, watermarking is one way to slow the thieves down.
There are several online services for watermarking images, and the following post also talks about protecting your images and watermarking: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/19/watermark-your-blog-images/ .

If a newspaper ripped off your image, your best bet is to contact the editor in chief and protest. If they turn a blind ear to you, your best bet is to go to their COMPETITION, which will be very interested indeed.
