protecting pictures

Is there not a plugin to disable the right click that allows viewers to download pictures? I know I can add my watermark but I’d like the copying of images to not be allowed at all….

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t use plugins at all, but you can use the Monotone or Duotone themes, which have right click automatically disabled. Note that while disabling right click does do just that, it doesn’t mean that people will be unable to copy the images, as it’s relatively easy to get around. Watermarking is a better option, but as I said only the Monotone and Duotone themes prevent right click.

Ok, thank you! I know there are ways to get around the right click and people can clone out the watermark. I just want to make it more work for them. I appreciate your reply.

When I first started putting photos on the web I ask a professional photographer friend for some help and advice. he laughed and said that he put up pictures on his site with not a lot of pixels in them. His standing joke is that you can make a 4 x 6 refrigerator prints from them, if you want any more quality you need to contact him.

I watermark all my photos and limit the size to the default for my theme – 600×400 px. That’s not very big, so if anyone tries to enlarge it, it loses all its resolution.

It doesn’t keep anyone from copying an image from my site, but I also have a detailed copyright statement in my sidebar.
