Protocol of Posting a Photoshop Class AssignmentCompositionofPhotosFound Online
-
I have an inquiry on something I’m concerned about. I took a beginning Photoshop class back in Fall of 2012 and we had to sign up for a blog and post our assignments online. I think the instructor is directing her current students to former students’ blogs to view examples, as I’ve been getting comments on the assignments I posted to Word Press.
Today, I received a comment from someone named David Powell on the Historical Collage assignment I did on John James Audubon: http://theadventuresofpeepsandthemisfits.wordpress.com/2012/10/25/historical-collage-john-james-audubon-the-american-woodsman/ He wrote: “You should ALWAYS ask permission before using other peoples images. Please take them down.”
I was the ONLY one in class who referenced other people’s photos that I found online. I thought I was doing the right thing, since I wanted to give credit to those whose photos I used. In addition, my compositions were for the beginning Photoshop class, nothing more. There was no mention by my instructor about asking for permission to use non-copyrighted images found on the internet.
Needless to say, I’m upset by the comment. I plan to change my Word Press blog to private, but I was wondering what is the protocol for using online images when taking a class and posting them to Word Press?
I look forward to hearing from you soon, and passing on the info to the instructor.
Thanks,
