p’s and div’s get removed from my post
-
How come, whenever I add a
<p>...</p>or<div>...</div>in the “Code” of a blog post, click save, then check the code again, it’s gone? These tags are under the list of “Allowed HTML”, so why are they removed? -
I think it’s related to a bug that’s impacting certain blogs at the moment. Staff know about it but they haven’t been able to fix it yet; hopefully they’ll have a fix soon. Have you tried fixing them manually in code and then clicking save? It’s the save and continue editing button that strips them out again, at least for me.

FYI: it seems that the bug where P tags are being stripped and substituted with DIV tags comes into play when I post a centered image with a link on it as the very first thing on the post. It doesn’t seem to happen on posts where the image is left or right aligned or unlinked. Very strange.
Also: search for “div tag” and “div and p” turned up no threads on the topic, although I know they are out there.

All threads about it have been closed. Is that why they do not appear in local WP searches? I used Google:

It couldn’t be that staff does not want people finding those threads to see how long it has been going on, could it? No, probably not, only house keeping I’m sure.
