Pseudonym use
-
I am a writer. I want to do try outs. I want to do this under a pseudonym before the public. I have no problem with WordPress Admin knowing my identity.

Hi there,
You have two ways to create your identity on WordPress.com:
First, when you created your account, you also created a username. This is your unique identifier across WordPress.com, and appears as the author of all sites you own, and all comments you write on your own and other people’s sites while logged in as this account. You can see your username under your profile picture on this forum thread,
daringunesekeraSecond, you can also set a public display name. By default this is the same as your username, but you can set it to whatever you want. If you have a public display name, that will appear as post and comment author wherever you post something, but in places like this forum, and in the underlying code for your site (for example, the author archive URL on your sites), it will still use the username.
You can change both the username and public display name from account settings:
If you want a specific site to be under a completely unique name, not shared across your other sites, you’ll need to create a completely different account and move the site to that account instead.
Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.

Thanks, Kokkieh.
I want to retain my user name as display name on my present sites.
I want to have a different display name only for one new site. So I guess I will take the second option you suggest of a totally new account for this work only.
Thanks for helping me think this through.

You’ll need a second account, yes.
If you’ve already created the new site, log out of this account and go to https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/ to create a new username without creating another site. Then log back into this account and transfer the site to the new account as explained here:
If you haven’t created the new site yet, log out and go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ to create the new site and username at the same time.
