pubDate versus wp:post_date
-
I’m trying to determine what the difference is between the pubDate and wp:post_date as I am converting my blog data to wordpress’s XML export format so that I may later import my old blog into wordpress.
Thanks

Am I missing something here? They should be the same (at least it seems that way to me).

They are the same, but why 2 different tags in the XML file then? what’s the purpose of one versus the other?
the wp:post_date seems clear, it’s the post’s date, but what is pubDate used for? or what’s it’s purpose?
Thanks

We have the option of creating a post on date {whatever} and then publishing it on another date. If we have draft posts or “private” posts then they are saved on date whatever but as they are not published they don’t have a pub-date. Perhaps this could this be what you are looking at?

Also I noticed the date format is different, any clue why?
<pubDate>Sun, 29 Apr 2007 01:37:43 +0000</pubDate>
<wp:post_date_gmt>2007-04-29 01:37:43</wp:post_date_gmt>Thanks
