  Hi – I want to create a public forum on my website where people can leave their own posts and maybe even share photos. Is this possible using the personal WordPress account?

  Yes it is. There are two ways to do this:

  1) If you are on the business plan or on the ecommerce plan, you can install a plugin, like the Asgaros Forum;

  2) You can use a P2 as a forum for your readers.
