when I log on to my blog it is marked as private. However, in the settings it is marked as public. Why?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m seeing https://walkingthecaminoin2015.wordpress.com/ as set to be public. Where are you seeing that it is private? Are you seeing an on-screen message of any sort?
-
Yes, I get a box with this message in it:
https://walkingthecamino2015.wordpress.com/ is marked private by its owner. You can:
Request access to view the site. We’ll send your username to the site owner for their approval.
Log out and sign in as different user. You’re logged in as ‘balibeautybliss’.

Your initial post asks about the site https://walkingthecaminoin2015.wordpress.com/
Your reply above mentions https://walkingthecamino2015.wordpress.com/
https://walkingthecamino2015.wordpress.com/ is a private site. The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of https://walkingthecamino2015.wordpress.com/ .
So you must have ended up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to access the https://walkingthecamino2015.wordpress.com/ dashboard.
