Publicising via twitter not working for all authors

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi all
I am involved with a multiple-author blog, and we have a twitter account we would like to use to publicise when new posts have been added. I’ve authorised the twitter account via ‘Sharing’, but it seems to be only pushing posts written under the admin login, which is what I used to add the twitter account, and NOT when anyone else blogs under their individual login. Is there some obvious way of making it work for everyone’s account?

    Cheers

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks very much – from that I realised that the problem was in each of us only being authors, not administrators; as authors you can’t see the Settings/sharing option. Solved!
    Cheers

You do NOT, repeat DO NOT, want to make everyone an Admin of your blog! (Rereading that thread I pointed out to you to read, I do not see where it even suggests making everyone an Admin.)

Please read this about user roles and change them back to Authors. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ specifically:

There are four roles that you can assign to people who you want to blog with: Administrator, Editor, Author, and Contributor.

Important: Please be careful of the roles you give users on your blog. If you add a user as an administrator, you are granting full ownership rights to him/her. This means that if he/she deletes the blog and/or its content, there is no wrongdoing. For this reason, we recommend having only one administrator per blog.

As far as twitter publicize goes, each user on a blog has their own set up for twitter publicize as a part of managing their settings under “Manage Blogs” for each blog they are on, regardless of role. You will have to give them the TWITTER ACCOUNT credentials for the twitter account you want them to connect to.

This is exactly what I wanted to know – thank you – I wouldn’t have had a problem with everyone being an admin, but this is certainly an easier option. I didn’t know the Manage Blogs was the solution! So, again, thanks.
