'Publicize on Facebook' function does not show the post title
-
I’ve set up a new blog using free WP plan. I want my new posts to be added to my Facebook as well, so I’ve set up the Publicize function. It does post it on FB, but the problem is the FB post has no title. There’s the text ‘[user] published an article on WordPress.’ and then the post text starts right away, missing the post title.
Is there a way to add it there?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey tondavusa,
I think what you’re looking for is the customize message box that is found in the left sidebar, under the “Sharing” tab.
Here is the WordPress youtube video showing where you can find it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcCe0ozmqFM#t=01m55sThe full support documentation page that the video came from is here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/I hope that helps. Good luck :)

Hi,
thanks for your answer. I’ve seen the video and read the information before.
It is nice function to customize the message, but I had something else in mind – I’d be happy with the automatic post text, just if it also included the post title.
Thanks

You’re absolutely right. I thought you might have something like that in mind so I looked it up but came up short.
Perhaps there is a way and now that the thread has been bumped perhaps someone more knowledgeable will step in and fill in that puzzle piece. In the meantime, I kinda want to know so I’ll keep looking. If I do find something I’ll post back here to share. :)

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I’d like mine to show up on fb just as if I’d shared a link and not right into the blog post.

Sorry folks, my internet went out due to a storm shortly after lulaharp posted. However, I’m back and I think I have a work around. It’s not the most graceful thing, but it might suit both of your needs.
@tondavusa
From your first post I presume you are talking about how your Facebook posts are looking like this when you publish:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2KpsqGz1VbRWjhnQjF5c2VCNjQ/viewI couldn’t get it to change no matter the layout or options I chose, but what DID work for me was going to the “Sharing” drop-down and at the bottom copying the shortlink and posting that directly as a Facebook post. That result looked like this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2KpsqGz1VbRcE1kX0hKVmFyWDQ/viewAgain, I know it’s not exactly the solution you may have been looking for, but hopefully it’s enough to satisfy your desire for a clean look on your Facebook post.
@lulaharp
This solution should work for you as well.If I find any additional ways to change the formatting within WordPress I’ll post it back here, but I’m satisfied with the result since it’s just a quick copy/pasta. I hope you folks will be too. :)

Thank you for the answers. Yes @prodiniz, I was talking about how the FB posts look. Your suggestion is a good idea, but it is not automatic.
From my point of view the developers of the plugin have to adjust the template for sharing and add the title there, otherwise there are only manual workarounds.
I’m using the custom message in the meantime.
-
I am not happy either with that solution (although I appreciate it, prodiniz). I want it to be automatic like it was before. Before, the shared post in Twitter showed a Title by default. In some point WordPress.com changed it. I’ll stay alert for any other answer. Thank you.

Hey folks,
I totally understand what you’re saying. I’m sorry that the work around isn’t the best solution. I did a quick search on the forums and support documentation and didn’t see anything about this mentioned so I’m going to tag this for modlook. Perhaps they will have an answer I don’t or they could submit this for a bugfix. Hopefully with my photos and descriptions they’ll be able to quickly reproduce and resolve the issue.
Best of luck to you guys until this is resolved for you. :)

Hi :) It’s not a specific post, it is all of them. When you publish a post with the Publicize (on Facebook) function turned on, it shares a post on my FB account without the title; just the (shortened) text.
-
I have the same issue. I just want it to post the link and the featured photo and it starts off like a blog post with no title and says Lula Harp published an article and here it goes… I’ve taken to posting the link but that is a nuisance bc I have spotty cell coverage during the day. I would also love to see the option of scheduling the post to Facebook as an option w publicize.
-
Also, just to confirm: both of you have had titles on your posts when you initially publicize, right?
-
-
Of course all posts had title. It happened with all posts I posted. I did not try posting one on Facebook manually.
-
In my case, yes I had titles when I initially publicize, and it happens with all types of posts.
Thanks -

Of course. The blog I have problem with is:
http://saltoalreverso.wordpress.com
(http://saltoalreverso.com)You can see a link with that problem today shared through publicize here:
