Publicize question about Twitter

Is there a way to use publicize that will allow Tweets to go out on more than one Twitter account? We have a need on our blog for that to happen when I post. If there is, do Twitter account holders other than my own have to be blog “users” ?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You can add multiple Twitter accounts to publicize. It can be done without them having to be registered users, but you will need everyone’s usernames and passwords in order to connect their accounts. If they are users on the blog they’ll of course be able to add their own accounts under publicize, meaning they won’t have to give their passwords to you.

You’ll see at Settings ->Sharing, where you connect accounts to Publicize, the button at Twitter says “Add New”. Make sure that you are logged out of Twitter when you press that (if you’re logged in it will simply redirect you to your own Twitter account) and the authorisation page will ask you for a username and password. Enter them and authorise it, and you will be redirected back to the sharing page. Open Twitter in a new tab/window, log out, and click “Add New” in publicize again.

I don’t know if there’s a limit on how many accounts you can connect this way. You’ll also probably want to select the option to make the connection available to all users so that if you have multiple users, they can publicize to all the accounts simultaneously.

Thanks. I did what you said and it seems to work. I will know for sure with the next post. Again, many thanks.

  • You’re welcome. Happy blogging.
