Publicize with Tumblr

I’m trying to figure something out that I don’t quite get. I have publicize turned on for my Tumblr blog at http://tumblr.steveboer.com/ The weird thing is, sometimes the posts show up differently on Tumblr than other times even though they are formatted the same. Sometimes they show up with the photo first, followed by a link to the blog post and then a few lines of the post content. This is the desired behavior. However, other times they show up with the post title, link and then a smaller version of the image off to the side. Wrapped around that is a section of the post content and then a link that says View on WordPress. Any idea how I can make sure that they all show up the first way? Could it make a difference if it is saved as a draft first, or scheduled, or the quantity of words or tags? You should be able to immediately see what I mean if you take a look at my Tumblr link provided above. Thanks!

    Hey Steve,

I compared your Tumblr page to your WordPress.com posts.

Notice where the placement of your image is in Days 2&4 of your 5 Day Black and White Challenge posts. Then, took at Days 1&3.

Could you do a test with Day 5, when you’re ready to post, and place your large image closer to the top of your content box?

Also, make sure the image size is the same in Day 5’s post as it is in Days 2&4.

Please let me know if this changes the way your post displays.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Ok I think I see the trend, thanks. Any post with a blank line in the text editor version of the post seems to be the common element. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

    Steve,

That is the main difference that I am seeing in those posts. You could even place the image at the very top of your post itself, if that works for you. Consistency may be the key!

Please do be in touch and let me know how that works out tomorrow.

    Many thanks!

It worked today, I didn’t leave any blank lines in my post. I think that must be the key. Next time I want a blank line I will try using the
tag and see what the effect is.

    The br tag, that is

    Steve,

I took a look at your post in Tumblr — looks great! Nice bighorn sheep :)

Glad that solution worked for you.

I suspect the <br> tag will work the same way as the line break, but I’d like to hear how it works out for you.

    Thanks very much!
