Publicized links not using https

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently set up the Publicize feature on my blog and noticed that when it posts the update to the connected site, the URL it shares is not “https“. How do I get it to be “https” instead of just “http”?

I have looked around in the Support area but all I see is the HTTPS / SSL page which states that this is all handled automatically.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Even the auto-populated blog link at the bottom of my question above is the non-SSL URL and not “https”. Shouldn’t all auto-generated URLs be https?

  • Hi there!

As we talked about in live chat, even though the link is published with http, the user will be redirected to https as soon as they open up the link on their browser.

That redirection is made using 301. It is possible to check it using this tool if you want to.

Thanks. And just to clarify for anyone not familiar with redirects, 301 is “permanent” which means that it doesn’t (or shouldn’t) adversely affect SEO.
