  I’ve wrote my first post but when I google my blog “shuttle to shetland” it appears as though i’ve not published it. Do I need to do something else to publish? Please help!

  You published the post. That doesn’t mean search engines have indexed it. Their job is to index and point to content people are looking for: since your blog is brand new and has only one post, nobody is particularly looking for it except you. Blog frequently, using original content, and the search engines will index you sooner rather than later. It always takes time. The more you blog original content the faster it happens, but allow several weeks.
