"publish" button – an improvement idea?

  hello,

  I was wondering whether it is possible to introduce an additional screen when a blogger presses “publish” asking whether we really want to publish?

  I have just published something by complete accident. I guess I am not the only person who works on a text few days not few hours and this “publish button” is stressing the heck out of me. Could you move it below the screen please so that it is not within my reach when I am working on a text? Hide it so that I need to click sth for it appear? Introduce a confirmation screen? or TWO???

  It has already happened to one of happiness engineers as well – when he inadvertently published one of my drafts when helping me out with something. So surely I am not the only one prone to do this.

  Please please please – do something about it soon. I am sure a lot of people will find it so relieving.

  Hi there,

  Thanks for your suggestion about the publish button. We will keep it in mind for future features and updates!

  In the meantime, there are a couple options you might want to consider:

  You can set a post to private right away when you start writing a new draft. That way, if you accidentally publish it, visitors to your blog won’t be able to see it. You can change it to public when you’re ready to publish it on the blog. We have more about post visibility here: Post Visibility

  If that doesn’t work for you, you may be interested in creating a new account for yourself and giving it access to your blog as a contributor. Contributors on blogs can create new posts but can’t publish them. That way, you can write your posts without worrying about accidentally publishing them, and then you can use your administrator account to publish the posts when you’re ready.
