Publish date and time incorrect

  • Unknown's avatar

I just published a post this morning and the date and time it showed was yesterday. I noticed this when I did not see my own post in the Reader.

I changed the post date to the right date and time: today at 10:25 am EST. But this has caused 2 problems. The first is that my email subscribers now have a broken link–because the email mentioned a date of yesterday.

And the bigger problem is that I’m getting no visibility today in my tagged categories.
    Can this be fixed?
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

I’m very sorry, but there is not really anything which can be done. The Reader is specifically set to only post articles for the date in which they were originally published, or else the less-honest would continually update the dates of their posts to keep them on the top of the Reader lists.

In regard to your readers, I can only suggest that you change the article’s date back to the original date so that your dedicated readers can find the article when they click on their links.

ok, well, thanks for your help and clarification. I guess I just missed out on this one….

I’m a little confused why it happened though. If I never published until yesterday, and that’s when the emails went out, why would an different date show on the actual post?? I’m not sure how that can actually happen, but guess I need to double-check it somehow now going forward beforehand.

    thanks again, Robin

    Hi there,

That will generally only happen if the date had been specifically selected while you were writing your post. It might have been while you were working with your drafts, etc. There have been some fringe cases where users have had different versions of the draft open in other tabs or windows and not realized it (from when they had been working on it days previously) and when they hit publish the date had been carried over from before, but usually it published the diminished amount of content as well, so it doesn’t sound like that’s what happened here.
