Publish Future Posts

    Hi,

I understand that there is a difference in editing php rights between .com and .org accounts, but is there any way to Publish Future Posts (Scheduled Posts) with a .com blog? To allow future (scheduled) posts to display on my posts page and on my calendar widget.

    Thank you,
    Andrew

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Sure thing. Steps to schedule a post can be found here: Schedule a Post

To allow future (scheduled) posts to display on my posts page and on my calendar widget.

Not sure I understand. Do you mean you wish to show upcoming posts on a widget, even though they have not been published yet? So display them in advance, basically.

There is no way to do this with the standard Calendar Widget though you may be able to create the appearance of a upcoming schedule of posts with a Google Calendar and the Upcoming Events widget.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Not entirely – I understand what the action of a Scheduled Post entails but it is publicly publishing and displaying Future Posts.
There is a way to edit the php on .org sites that allows you to display future posts so as to display an event that will happen in the future.

I can’t imagine that WordPress would not think this to be a priority to users to be able to publish posts at a later date and have them publicly display before hand to coordinate an upcoming event to their viewers.

Please let me know how this could be possible with my current wordpress blog. There has to be a way to edit some shortcode and make this possible. Esp since I payed $30 for custimization, which I know covers css rules but should also cover a change like this

    Thank you

  • Hi there,

While that appears to be possible on self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) sites, it is not possible here. I am happy to suggest it to our engineering team, but it is not likely that we will add a feature like this in the near future, as it is not a common request.

However, if this is something you feel like you need in the near term, you can always migrate your WordPress.com site to a self-hosted WordPress installation. This guide will step you through the process of moving your blog to a WordPress.org instance, which is not difficult at all to do:

If you’’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com blog to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if it’’s right for you:

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
