Published page shows not the same as view page

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there, hopefully someone can help me out. I have been using a theme for my website. I have created a homepage with a header and a footer which would be nice to keep on showing on every page. I have created some pages and now I see a difference in the showing of my pages. When I click on the created page title, it shows the content I made for that specific page but the theme with the header and footer will not appear. When I click on the three dots next to the page name and view page through there it will show the theme but not the content I created for that page. I am now wondering why this is happening and how I can create different pages with the same layout/theme as the homepage, so the header and footer will constantly stay the same for every different page I create. Thanks!

  • Hello –

Thanks for reaching out to our team. I’ll gladly help you get the content published on the desired pages. I do see that some weird things are happening.

When I look at Praktische informative in the edit view, I see this:

And when I look at Praktische infomative from the preview option, I see:

Does this line up with the issue you’ve described?

Additionally, we should talk about the business plan. This plan offers the best combination of price and features. You can accept payments, including recurring payments for classes, and schedule appointments. The plugin integration possible with this plan will give you the tools needed to grow your business and thrive.

Some suggestions to help you increase revenue.

    Be well and talk soon.

    Hi there,

Yes, this is totally what I mean and I cannot figure out where it is going wrong.

For now the plan is good for me and I do not want to upgrade to a higher plan as the basics are still fine for me now. I am not planning to sell things on my website.

Hopefully you can help me with the above thing, is it something with the theme where it is going wrong?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best regards,

    Carlijn

One more add to this, is that I wish to have the header and footer of the homepage stick to all the pages on the website, this is how I found out what is going wrong woth the pages.

  • Hi there,

After taking a closer look, I can see that you have edited the Pagina's template, which I can see listed here: https://carlijnvanmosselveld.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?path=%2Fwp_template%2Fall

By default this template is meant to be used as the starting point for most pages on your site (except your homepage) and by default it’s blank and has a special block that allows it to display the contents of any page you create here: https://wordpress.com/pages/

My guess is that in editing this template you broke the connection that prevents it from correctly showing the contents of your Praktische informative page. With this in mind, if you reset the template as shown in the error I’ve added to my screenshot, the page will correctly show the contents you see in the editor view at https://wordpress.com/page/carlijnvanmosselveld.com/30

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you so much for helping me out. I have changed the setting as you explained above. Unfortunately, I still see a difference in all the pages I have created when I click on the title and when I click on view page. I have added some screenshots this time. When I make a change in the pages shown under view page, it changes all the pages I have created into the same content.

For every page I would love to have the header and footer the same as shown on the homepage with every page having it’s own content.

Hopefully you can still help me out!

  • Hi again,

Unfortunately, I still see a difference in all the pages I have created when I click on the title and when I click on view page.

Thats not true for every page though, yes? I noticed this page and this one are much closer to what you see in the editor. That is because they are using the default Pages template that I directed you to set in my previous reply. When you edit a page you can see this in the sidebar on the right.

Your other pages (Yoga / Mindfullness, The Art of Movement, etc) are using a different template however. It seems that you created a custom template, possibly while troubleshooting this issue?

If you like, you can edit each of those pages (the ones that don’t show what you see in the editor view) and switch them to the default Page template. If you save your changes you will see the template change will allow your content to appear.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
