Published Post Disappeared

On 8/9 I published a post titled: Things are not Always What They Appear to Be. I previewed it and then hit publish. After that I exited the window. Later when I went to my site to check activity it wasn’t appearing. I checked the drafts and it wasn’t there either.
Then I created a second post called: Cave or No Cave, That is the Question. I didn’t recreate the lost post because I was wondering if it was going to show up somehow. Anyway, when I click on the stats bars for 8/9 it shows 2 published posts (both as shown above).
Can you explain what happened to it? At this point, I am recreating it and will repost it today.

It looks like you may have published the “Things are not Always What They Appear to Be” post as a page at first as shown here:

The page with the same title was published on 8/9/14. Is that the content you were referring to?
As for the second post, “Cave or No Cave, That is the Question”, I’m currently seeing that post published on 8/9 underneath your Posts page here:

Did you republish that post or is that the original one?

The post link for Things are not Always What They Appear to Be, which you included above was the original post that disappeared. At least it wasn’t showing up anywhere I could see it after I published it.
I made the title slightly different (are not became aren’t) and rewrote the post. I then published that one on 8/10/14. This is the one that shows up on the blog.
The other post on 8/9, Cave or No Cave, I had no problems with.
Just curious because I had never had a page disappear like the first one, but still show as being published on the stats bar.

When you publish items as pages rather than posts, they aren’t automatically displayed on your site by default. Instead, you would need to manually display them in a menu. If I understand correctly, you actually wanted the item to appears as a post on your home page. Is that correct?

The page didn’t disappear necessarily; the content was just added as a page instead of a post. Posts appear on your home page by default. Pages do not on the Ryu theme. When you clicked “Publish” the content was indeed published. It just wasn’t displayed by default. If you publish content as “Posts” going forward, you shouldn’t experience this issue again!

Okay. I do remember the page looking slightly different than the other posts I had made. I don’t know how I got there, but will just make sure I am always in the format for posts.
