Published post reverted to old draft
-
I had a post that was published 12/27 at 8am, was shared to facebook and twitter, had over 50 views on the stats, and I even approved a comment on it, and now it’s gone. There’s an old, previous version in the drafts area with the comment on it, but that wasn’t the final version that I posted with all the finalized text, pictures, and links. Can anyone tell me what happened? And more importantly, can I somehow restore the finalized, published post with all the stats on it???
Here’s the link that got shared to Facebook and Twitter. If I click on that link from Facebook now, it tells me the page can’t be found.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Thanks for writing us, you might have bi-mistakenly deleted the post so the best way to get back the “deleted post” is to go to:
Login to your WordPress site and then,
Blog Posts → Trashed
click on > Restore
Please follow the link for detailed instruction on our support site.

Thank you, but it’s not in my “Trash”. I looked there first.
The most curious thing about this is that the post in my “Drafts” folder is an old version, one that I had to almost completely rewirite before I published it. And, the comment that was on the published post is now on that obsolete draft. I don’t think there’s anything I could’ve accidentally done to move the post back to “Drafts” AND have it revert to an older draft than what I published. I think there has to be a glitch somewhere.

Hi –
There’s a draft post on your account with the same title.
Find it by clicking on My Site > Posts > Drafts

Yes, that is an old, frame-worked draft and not the final version that was published. The version that’s now appearing in my Drafts folder starts out:
“January – New Studio work days, new ceiling, paint, mirrors, marley floor (share cute video of installation?)”
…while the final version that was published and viewed by 45 visitors by the end of last week had started out,
“As we wind down the year, we wanted to take a look back at the moments that truly made 2017 a year to remember.
January started out with work days in our new studio. Friends and family helped us makeover our new space from top to bottom, from replacing ceiling tiles to repairing floorboards and laying down a Marley dance floor. It was a labor of love that transformed an empty, cold room into a vibrant, warm dance studio that we feel blessed to call home.”
I’m hoping someone can restore what was actually published for me. I have most of the text in a file that I sent a friend to review, minus a few final changes I would need to try to remember, but I would really love to have it restored, if possible, with the comment attached. And I would really love to know what happened.

Hi – There was a post trashed and then permanently deleted 3 weeks ago. It’s not possible for me to restore it since it no longer exists in your trash.
What we can do is restore a previous version of that draft post that is still on the blog.

Oh, that’s very helpful! It looks like the revision from Dec. 26th at 8:57pm had everything finalized. Do you need to restore that for me, or do I just need to publish it again?
Thank you! I’m still very curious as to how things got messed up, but this is very helpful. Thanks!

You can restore the previous version of the post. Here’s how: https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/page-post-revisions/
If you have trouble though I can definitely help you out.

I did restore it last night. I was happy to see that I could backdate it, and that the comment stayed with it. Thank you for your help.
