Published posts disappearing

  I have recently published 2 posts that have now disappeared from the list of published posts. They were available when posted and linked back to the site. This one has lost all its photos and content

  and this one says page not found

  I know that they were published because they posted to my linked Facebook page, The Snail Trail and are still visible on that page but the responses I have given here are what happens when you click on the link. Any ideas where they have gone? How do I get them back?

  Hi rosemaryhr,

  There is a previous revision of Australia - a Land of Contrasts (currently a draft) containing more text and a number of images, which is great news. That revision can be restored with these steps:

  I’ve been able to track down the Trangie is Full of Surprises post in your Trash folder:

  https://wordpress.com/posts/trashed/thedailysnailmail.wordpress.com

  It can be restored by clicking on 3 dots to the right and clicking “Restore”.

  With both posts, do you recall making any changes shortly before this happened? For example, inserting an image or choosing a category. I’m just wondering if there is a pattern between seemingly small or insignificant changes that could have caused this to happen.

  Thanks for your help. I see the Trangie post has been restored but using my phone app I’m not seeing any previous version options for my Land of Contrasts post. I’ll access a computer tomorrow and see if that gives me more options.

  I could have made changes to those posts but truly can’t remember so can’t help with a common action that may have caused the problem. Seems funny that they did publish and then they disappeared?

  The mobile app does not show revision history for posts, no. You’ll need to use a web browser to access that feature.

  Seems funny that they did publish and then they disappeared?

  The Trangie post shows that you deleted the entire post two days ago. The Land of Contrasts post, on the other hand, appears to have lost some content during an edit, but the post itself was never deleted.

  So for the Trangie post it’s possible that you could just have mis-clicked or -tapped (if using the mobile app) on something and accidentally deleted it. That happens sometimes.

  However, content randomly disappearing from an existing post should not happen, so for that one in particular knowing what caused it might help us prevent it from happening again in future.

  So, any info you’re able to provide :)
