Published Site is Different From Edit Mode Preview

Hi! I’m making changes to a free wordpress site and I realize that all of my changes show when i’m editing the site, but when I save and publish I’m seeing some differences (i.e. the full width image at the top of the screen is green on the published site, but it maintains it’s regular color in edit mode (which is how I want it to be in the published version). The blog query images are green in the published mode, and I don’t want this either. Theres also an image and some jumbled text at the (almost) top of the published site that doesn’t appear at all when I’m in edit mode. Is there a way for me to get rid of this and to make my published site match exactly to how the site looks when i’m editing? thanks a bunch!

  • Hi @eeevisualarts,

This is currently is a bug or two with the Skatepark theme applying a duotone filter to featured images.

Typically, this can be set by going to Appearance → Site Editor, as shown here:

While I don’t have a timeline for a resolution, you can either apply a custom duotone setting, or use a different block-based theme, such as Blockbase.

Theres also an image and some jumbled text at the (almost) top of the published site that doesn’t appear at all when I’m in edit mode.

Could you please clarify which image and text that you are referring to?

Thank you for this clarification. I will apply a different duotone setting until the bug is fixed. Right below the featured image that’s at the top of the page, there’s a smaller duplicate of that image and a paragraph that looks like it’s pulled from different places on the site. In the version of the site that shows in edit mode, this image and text block isn’t there and I’d like to get rid of it in the published version too.

    Hi there!
That Image and the paragraph underneath are part of a “Query-loop” block.
You should be able to see it and delete it when editing the site editor.
If you can’t see it, open the List view ( Shift+Alt+O) and find the Query-loop after a spacer, click the three dots on the right and choose Remove Query-loop.

    Hope this helps!

  • It looks like your Home page has a query loop block, shown here:

What’s likely happening here is this query loop is displaying the homepage’s featured image and text content as an automatic excerpt. You can remove this block entirely and/or replace it with a blog posts block if you would like your posts to be displayed on the homepage.

    Hope that helps.

Ohhh I didn’t even notice that block! I thought it was for the content at the bottom of the page. Thank you both so much for the help!
