Publishing 2 different posts, with one of them always disappearing.

I wrote 2 posts and wanted to publish them in a certain order–one yesterday, one today. That never happened, even though I went to schedule and set a time for today. Instead, I have to go to the trash to retrieve whatever post is not appearing, restore it, publish it–and then the second post disappears. (Got that?)
    HELP!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Welcome to WordPress.com. I’m sorry to hear about this.

I want to make sure we’re on the same page.

Two posts, calling them A and B due to my lack of imagination. A was to publish yesterday. B today. A published fine, B didn’t. You found B in the trash, republished it and then it was gone again? Was it in the trash, as a draft, or simply gone?

Which posts (by title) are/were acting up? For the scheduled post, to confirm, did you click Edit next to the Publish time on the right-hand side of the blog, changed the time/date, clicked OK, then the blue “Schedule” button (where Publish was before changing the time)?

Thanks for your patience as we work together to figure out what’s going on! Thanks for using WordPress.com.

We’re close….A was published yesterday; B was in draft. When I went to publish B last night, it was gone. Searched help, found it in the timeline for draft. Brought it back up. read about scheduling ahead, did that. thought I pressed the right key but what happened next was A disappeared (and went into the trash) and B went up. The problem is they are linked in sequence with A then B. I thought Right now B is up. I thought I solved the problem today but reading about trash retrieval. Same thing went on: A went up shortly, then B went up on the time I had scheduled it for.
Is there any way you can simply shift posts in their order once they’re both us?
Driving me bonkers but thanks for your help.

  • Hmm. That’s an interesting pickle.

For blog posts, the only way to shift their order is to change their publish time. Just as you set the date/time to schedule a future post, if you change the post to the past and click the blue button (Update/Publish/Schedule, depending on if the post has been published before and if you’re going back in time or into the future), it will display in the right chronological order based on the other post’s set time, either when they were originally published or the time/date they were edited to be.

In short, if B is showing before (in time) A, you can change one of the two post’s time/date to display in the intended order. As a blog, we display the latest post at the top.

Huh! ok, I’ll try that. If it doesn’t happen I’ll find you!
In the mean time, thanks for the help.
