Publishing button gone

  I have been trying to post new entries on two of my blogs and cannot do so. They end up as drafts and then I use the dropdown publish from the edit screen.

  When I post an entry, I have the categories and tags boxes but not the Publish button and box.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Two suggestions:

  1. While on the edit post page, scroll down and make sure that the publish section has not somehow gotten placed down below the text box area. If it has, grab it by the blue title bar and drag it back up and to the right of the text area until a dashed outline appears and then release the mouse button.
  2. log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.

  Thanks for the post, SacPath.
  I did the restart and clear cache thing about fifteen minutes ago.

  I also checked the whole page. I’m working on a laptop (small screen) and it’s not down there. Cats and tags boxes are, but no publish box. It’s happening on two of my blogs.

  I seem to recall a similar issue recently but can’t find the appropriate thread(s) or remember the resolution.

  Just to be clear, since you said “When I post an entry,” – you are talking about unpublished posts, right? Not trying to edit one that’s already published?

  Actually it’s either, Ella.

  I open the screen for a new post and it’s minus a publishing box
  I open the screen for an edit and same thing.
  I open the screen for a quick edit and I have to set the dropdown to publish.

  When you’re editing a published post you won’t see the Publish button because it’s already published. You just have the button to update for saving those changes.

  When you use quick edit and set the drop down to publish and save (or whatever the command is), does the post then publish?

  Yes, when I use the quick edit.

  The most annoying is when I open to post a brand new post. No publish box or button.

  Its frustrating.

  If you are using Firefox, disable all addons that you have installed, restart your browser and then try again. If the publish box is back, then turn your addons on one at a time and try again to isolate which addon is causing the problem.
