Publishing Future Date

I really dislike the new block editor but I’m trying to roll with it.

One problem I’m having is with publishing posts on future dates. When you go to publish, you can change the date. A calendar pops up and you just click the date you want. It will go live that day.

Previously, any old posts would show up on the calendar somehow – a different color or a circled date, I can’t quite remember. But now all of the dates are just blank. I like to post weekly on the same day of the week. But I can’t remember which week I’m ready for. So now I have to go back and look at the scheduled drafts (that are written but pending actual live publishing). Then I check another calendar to see the date of the day I am aiming for.

This seeming loss of functionality is really irritating. I wonder if there is a way I can reactivate it

    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi there – This is a feature that you and several users have now asked for, and our dev team is looking into adding. It’s important to know that it’s not a priority right now since it doesn’t prevent the scheduled posts feature from working. You can follow the request here:

    https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/42986

I have added your request to the list and we’ll reach out to you once an update is made. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with us on this.

There are very many of us who find the lack of this feature very frustrating. Yet all responses to those of us who are logging it as a problem are complacent and bland and frankly not acceptable.

A large number of bloggers use this feature and need it. Why update an editor and remove features? What were you all thinking?

  • We are still looking into this, and you can now follow along with the development process at https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/28567
