Publishing problems

This morning when I tried to post, I clicked on “Publish,” but the post was saved instead. That’s happened occasionally before, and I know other people have mentioned it. It’s a bit of a frustration, but usually I just click on it and then hit “Publish” again, and it works. But this morning when I clicked on the saved post, the bottom third of it was missing. I back-clicked, hoping to come across the page where I had composed the post, but couldn’t find it. I then tried just closing the window to my blog completely, then reopening it, going to my saved posts, and clicking on that post — it didn’t completely load, but a few more sentences were there. I had to do that several more times, and a few more sentences would load each time, until it finally got to within the last couple of words which I typed in again. I clicked on “Save” (on purpose that time), and then “Publish,” and it finally worked.

I was wondering if anyone else was having these problems and wanted to let you know it was occuring.

There was a couple of threads on the topic but not sure what ever came up with it.

I know you’re sitting behind a proxy server (I can see your IP address and the ones located here in Charlotte are about 15 feet away from my own hosting racks. And, yes, I’m very tempted to muck with them but I have banking servers about fifteen feet the other way and lots of cameras on my floor.) but I don’t think that would come into play here. (You’d probably lose your entire post, not just a bit.)

Strange that they come back though. Hmmm….

Which editor are you using, by the way?

    Feedback sent.

I was using the rich text editor.

I had a feeling that you were. You may want to change editors and see if the issue still occurs. You can do this at Dashboard -> Users -> Your profile -> A checkbox near the top of the page.

I went ahead and sent in a feedback. Maybe staff has some ideas.

I just now published another post (still using the rich text editor) and it sailed through with no problems. So — I don’t know — maybe, hopefully it was just some temporary odd glitch. If it happens again I’ll try switching editors.

    Thanks!

Hi, I also have problems publishing since the last two days.
Right now I answered a comment, and it just disapeared.
Earlier I published, and half of the text was published…
Another time it was saved instead of beeing published.
I also have problems since 6 days with the Post Stats, already reported that.
    Thanks for you help

Same question as per above – Which editor are you using?

    Hi D:) I use word

That may be the issue by itself but which editor here on wp.com are you using?

As you wrote above, in Dashboard -> Users -> Your profile -> Use the visual rich editor when writing is checked.

Try not using the rich text editor. It’s known for causing issues.

I use it all the time and I’ve never had those problems, FYI. Very strange, but then there’s obviously some back-end stuff going on at WordPress lately, causing intermittent strangeness. I caution everyone to copy all the text to their clipboard before hitting PUBLISH so they can always re-post, should the whole thing go cablooie.

Must be but we’re not seeing anyting float down into the WPMu code. At least not with the TinyMCE code.
