Publishing to facebook

My post didn’t appear on my facebook newsfeed – it parked itself on my timeline but wasn’t shared until I went in and did so. My previous post ended up on the newsfeed immediately after I hit the publish button. Today’s post was a scheduled one, but I made an edit after it was published – does this mess up the facebook publish? I have since reconnected, and shared the post from my timeline so now it’s on the newsfeed.
Do I have to go to my facebook timeline and share each time I publish a post?

    Hi there!

My blog content is not offensive, unless you are a cat.

    You are too funny :)

Today’s post was a scheduled one, but I made an edit after it was published – does this mess up the facebook publish?

With scheduled posts, you need to make sure that the post is published on your WordPress.com site, before it published to Facebook. Scheduled posts won’t publish on your site until someone visits your site AFTER the scheduled date/time. So, if nobody visits your site, your post won’t publish to your blog or to your Facebook wall.

I have since reconnected, and shared the post from my timeline so now it’s on the newsfeed.
Do I have to go to my facebook timeline and share each time I publish a post?

You did exactly the right thing as a temporary fix for the issue. However, you shouldn’t have to do this everytime you publish.

I did test the connection, and everything looks great now.

Now that you’ve disconnected/reconnected your Facebook publicize connection, let’s revisit the issue after your next scheduled post (which I see is set for April 1, 2015). If you’d prefer to test this earlier, feel free to set up a scheduled post, let me know, and I can keep on eye on it!

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Now I’m more confused! If I don’t touch/edit the next scheduled post – if I don’t do anything – will it appear on facebook? If not, what do I have to do? Basically I want to create my blog posts ahead of time, then have them magically appear when scheduled as I sometimes can’t be trusted to keep a schedule.

    Hi again,

If I don’t touch/edit the next scheduled post – if I don’t do anything – will it appear on facebook?

It should, yes. You’ve done the right thing (disconnecting/reconnecting), and I’ve tested that connection. It works great.

Now what we need to do is make sure that your scheduled post publishes properly to your WordPress.com blog. Once it is published on your site, then look for the post on Facebook.

If the post doesn’t publicize to Facebook as expected, the first thing I need you to do is confirm whether the post DID or DID NOT publish on your WordPress.com site.

    1. If it did publish at the scheduled time, please let me know that the WordPress.com post published properly, but it didn’t appear on Facebook.
    2. If it didn’t publish at the scheduled time, don’t publish it manually. Just let me know asap and I’ll look into this.

Does that make more sense? I hope so. Let me know if I can clear anything else up.

Ideally, you should not have to touch another thing, and your scheduled post will publish properly to both WordPress.com AND Facebook.

    Thanks much!
