Purchase a domain without buying a plan

  I want to purchase an available domain from wordpress, but don’t want to purchase a whole plan to do so. How do I go about this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hello
  You can purchase a domain by itself here, but without one of the paid plans, you would have to use it someplace else.
  in:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
  it tells us

  Adding a domain to your site (either registering a new domain or mapping one you already own) requires a WordPress.com plan

  WordPress.COM is not a domain name registrar. Their partnership with WildWestDomains is aimed at providing domains to those who have sites hosted here that they have paid for an upgraded plan on.

  We have 4 different plans: free, personal, premium and business. All hosting is free regardless of which plan you choose. You can view all wordpress.com plan features here https://wordpress.com/pricing/ Add a plan for each of your sites here: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/.

  One cannot purchase a domain name through WordPress.COM without selecting an upgraded plan and purchasing it first. Hence one would have to do that first, then cancel the plan, retain the URL, and get a refund for the difference in price.
