  Set up a free site with a subdomain address ending in .wordpress.com. If you still feel the need for a custom domain address you can buy a domain by clicking on “upgrade” in your lefthand menu. There may be some cheap offers as that is what I currently see in my dashboard. Note that you would need to upgrade your free site to a paid plan if you ever wanted to make a custom domain the primary address on a site here.
