Purchase existing domain

    The domain I would like to purchase is already taken but looks like it was purchased in 2013 and nothing was ever done with it. Can I contact WordPress/the owner to see if I can take it over?

    Hi there,

    What is the domain you want to buy? If the owner of the domain did not enable private registration their contact info appears on a public database, so you should then be able to contact them. But domains are considered legal property, so the only way to obtain an existing domain is if the current owner transfers ownership to you.

    If you want to register an existing free *.wordpress.com address, then I can’t help you, as we don’t recycle existing addresses for any reason, and we also don’t give out contact information of blog owners under any circumstances.
