purchase theme – Venture
-
Hello, I would like to purchase the premium theme: Venture now…however, I have already paid for multi-year agreement at (domainsinseconds.com) for the domain name and hosting package. Can I purchase this Venture template, and use it with my current hosting plan?

Hey there,
The Venture theme is only available for a WordPress.com sites and although I found a few 3rd party themes with the name Ventre, I do not believe the are the same theme designed by Tasko.
So, since you are going the self-hosted route, I would suggest finding a 3rd party themethat works best with the hosting package that you purchased.
I would be happy to refund the money for the purchase of the Venture theme unless you decide to use our hosting for your site. Let me know either way. Thanks!

Thank you. Can you explain to me why?
I called domainsinseconds.com (my hosting package is a premium package).
They told me that unless, for some reason, a wordpress template requires above a 5.4 php…there would be not barrier or limitation to hosting on my current plan. They currently have others hosting wordpress sites on their platform.

The hosting package that you have with domainsinseconds.com is for a self-hosted WordPress.ORG blog, yet the theme that you purchased from us is for a freely hosted WordPress.COM blog. You can’t use that theme for your self-hosted blog.
For the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, please visit our support page:
I take it that domainsinseconds.com are assuming that the theme you purchased is for a WordPress.org blog. If you explain to them that it is a WordPress.com theme, it should bring clarity.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Like I mentioned before, I found a few WordPress.org themes that are named Venture, but they are not the same as the one here at WordPress.com. I’m sure there are comparable themes to the one you have here, however.
You can start to look here: https://wordpress.org/themes/commercial/
Let me know if you want me to issue you a refund for the Venture theme here, assuming you are proceeding with building a blog with domainsinseconds.com.
Thanks!

I was interested in the Venture theme. I read the article on wordpress.com about converting a .org blog into a .com blog. I know that it requires domain mapping to keep the same domain, but can you explain the process?

Hey there @maeghansmith928,
If you would like to move your self-hosted WordPress.org blog over to WordPress.com, you can follow our support guide here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
Also, yes, if you have a domain hosted elsewhere that you want to point over to your WordPress.com blog, you will need to purchase a mapping subscription in addition to pointing the namesevers over to WordPress.com. We have a support guide for this process as well:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Let me know if you have questions or issues. Thank you!
