Purchased custom theme, looking for files (blog export)

    Hi there, I inherited a blog which is currently hosted by WordPress.com. The custom theme that was purchased is called TheStyle by Elegant Themes. The person who purchased this was not able to login and see if they could access the files/template via the Elegant Themes site and it’s not apparent on WordPress.

    We would like to move the blog to WordPress.org and host it within the company.

    I am not the most techy of people, but I thought there would be away to get the files that we’ve paid for to transfer this over. All the content has been downloaded etc and the IT guys are taking care of that – it’s about the template / theme now.

    Is there a way to download these files through WordPress? We’ve obviously customised the template here.

    Apologies if this question is obvious but I haven’t been able to find anything that adequately answers this.

    Hi there !

    When you buy a theme on WordPress.com, it is not transferable to a WordPress.org installation as stated in the ‘Premium Themes’ support pages. ( http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/premium-themes/ )

    Note: Premium Themes that are licensed for WordPress.com use only cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites. Some Automattic-developed premium themes can be transferred to a self-hosted site at no charge, as part of a Guided Transfer. Please post in the premium theme forums if you’d like to know whether your theme qualifies.

    But, as stated, you can ask the developper of the theme if he is kind enough to give you the theme freely for a WordPress.org install.

    Or better yet, get a refund on the theme you bought, and go to the developer’s site and buy the WP.org version.
