Purchased domain name

  Hi there
  I’ve purchased a domain name (kwsa.com.au) and am trying to create a new website through WordPress with it. I understand that I need to ‘map’ it because it ends in .au and that I need to purchase a plan. However, once I get through to the payment section it says that my domain name ‘kwsadotcomdotau.wordpress.com’ or ‘kwsacomau.wordpress.com’is now available. Is it not possible to get rid of the wordpress.com part altogether?

  Hi there!

  Any site you create will use the .wordpress.com subdomain. When you add domain mapping (or register a custom domain), the free subdomain will not be visible to anyone but you.

  That said, now that you have a WordPress.com site, you’ll go to Plan>Plans, choose the desired plan and when you’re asked to choose a custom domain you’ll click on “I already have a domain” and follow the steps to point the domain to our servers :)
