Purchased domain not working

    I owned a website domain, hosted and registered elsewhere. We decided to go in a different direction and create a new website via WordPress. I updated the DNS to WordPress (via register.com), thinking the domain would now direct to the WP site I have all set up. Instead, it directs to the same website as before. And now the greenspiritstrategies.wordpress.com URL directs to that website too, not the WP blog. What can I do to fix this? Am I doing something wrong or is this simply the loading time and tomorrow it will be the way I’d hoped.
