Purchases

    Hi,

I recently had cancelled my Premium Plan, along with my domain name which was included with it. On my settings, it now says that I have the free plan. However, I later noticed that it has been more than 30 days since the window for my refund has passed for the Premium Plan, so I am confused as to whether I still have the Premium Plan despite my settings saying that I have the free plan. If I do not have the Premium Plan anymore, will I be receiving a refund?

Also, regarding my domain name, if I still have the premium plan, may I get my domain name back? To my understanding, since the settings said that the Premium Plan was cancelled, had believed that I would cancel my domain name with it since it was included. However, if the Premium Plan was not cancelled successfully, which my settings did not indicate before I cancelled my domain name, then I would like to have a domain name for my website back.

If someone could get back to me as soon as possible, I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you!

    What is the domain URL?

Did you carry through and you use the appropriate process found here https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#canceling-and-refunding-purchases to cancel and request a refund?

    Refunds https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/ are time limited.

    • WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund from date of purchase on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
    • The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
    • It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received after canceling an upgrade and requesting one.

It is important to know that cancelled domains are not released by the registrar immediately. Also note that here’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use a domain again as it may be sold to someone else. Therefore you should cancel a domain, if and only if, you are sure you do not wish to use it again.

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

You can manage all of your WordPress.com purchases by navigating to the Me section of WordPress.com and then choosing the option to Manage Purchases from the sidebar.

Select any purchase in order to view options for managing it. The options available will be different based on the upgrade you choose.

  • Hi there,

You cancelled the plan and the domain on 11 June, but the renewal for both went through on 10 May, which means you cancelled two days AFTER the refund period ended.

As you only just missed the refund period I can still issue that refund for you, or I can restore the upgrades to your account. At the moment your domain is still in a hold status at our registrar, which means we can still get it back if we act fast. In a couple more days it will go into redemption, at which point they’ll charge an additional $80 fee to restore the domain, so I need you to confirm as soon as possible whether you wish to try and get the domain back.

If we don’t restore the domain it will only be available again once it passes through redemption with our registrar, a process which takes several weeks. There is no guarantee you’ll be able to register the domain again once it’s released.

Please let me know what you want to do.

    Hi @kokkieh,

Thank you! I would like to still cancel my Premium and receive the refund. Thank you for your quick response.

Also, with that I would like to get rid of my domain as well as I believe that is included. Thank you again!

  • Thanks for confirming. I’ve refunded the Premium Plan. You should receive the refund in about 10 business days, depending on your bank.
