Purchases not doing what it is supposed to

  I purchased a personal plan for my self-hosted site. I can see the purchase for that site. It says it is connected to a WordPress.com site. But the two don’t seem to be linked. The WordPress.com site is a free site. Did I need to buy TWO plans? That wasn’t clear. I simply want to connect my Facebook and my self-hosted site to do a transfer. That’s all. Where am I going wrong?

  WP.com: Yes
  Jetpack: Yes
  Correct account: Yes

  If you have a Personal plan here that means you will be hosting a site here and just connecting a domain purchased elsewhere to a WordPress.com site. You can’t buy a Personal plan here to use with a site hosted at some other company.

  It looks like that i bought the Personal plan for my external site. It then days it is connected to a WordPress.com site (a free site). I just dont understand why I can’t see my external site on WordPress.com.

  I have other external sites (with no plans) that show up on WordPress.com. When I go to Add a site, and I add my external URL, then it tells me that it is already linked to the free WordPress.com site as I noted above.

  I also can’t figure how to unlink if that’s what I need. I don’t mind RTFM, but I just can’t find it in the docs.
