Purchasing $18 domain

  Simply want to be able to purchase .com domain which is available. Only shopping option is to upgrade to another level of service which costs $99. Got all the way to credit card information before I realized that was what would happen. Have purchase $18 domain name which is then redirected immediately to wordpress.com domain. Who can I call about this?

  Howdy hcfinishing!

  It sounds like you are wanting to map a custom domain to your WordPress.com blog. If that’s correct, there are instructions for doing that along with registering a new domain here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/

  Please keep in mind though, that using a custom domain is only included with the Premium and Business WordPress.com plans. That would explain the price jump when you added the domain to your cart. In order to purchase and utilize a domain, you have to also purchase a WordPress.com plan. Pricing for those are listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  Well, I have only paid $18.00 for other blogs to get the domain name and the mapping.

  This is the first time I have seen the requirement for having to get one of the two plans you mention.
