Purchasing a Domain?

    Hi, I’m considering buying a domain for $25. I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to ensure that my blog won’t lose its place in Google search or other search engines – I remember I changed my blog address without purchasing a domain and everything got messed up. If there’s a page on purchasing domains that would be helpful too.

    The Google Page Rank and Technorati authority and rank belong to the root blog ie. the original wordpress.com sub-domain url for the blog. If you purchase a domain name and move the blog to another URL all the links will be broken unless you also purchase domain mapping or an off-site redirect so readers are seamlessly transferred between the URLs. The PageRank on the new blog on your domain will drop and in about 4 – 6 months time, all things considered you may be able to restore it.
