Purchasing domain name that is for sale

    I would like to use a specific domain but wordpress tells me it’s owned already. If I go to that domain name though it says it’s for sale. Is it still possible for me to have this domain?

    Hello,

    When you go to the domain, are there instructions on how to purchase the domain? If so, you may be able to buy it and then map it to your WordPress.com site (assuming that is what you are trying to do).

    Keep in mind you need an upgraded WordPress.com plan in order to use your domain name.

    What is the specific domain, please?

    If the domain is already registered but for sale by the current owner via a domain brokerage service, you won’t be able to register it via our system. In such a case you’d need to buy it through the brokerage system at whatever provider the domain is currently registered with, and then connect it to WordPress.com via our domain mapping upgrade, or transfer it here if it is eligible for transfer.

    We only support registering new domains that don’t exist yet at all.
