  what is your current website address is now?
  I do ask that to know if you use WordPress.com or .org, as these are two entirely separate entities. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:

  Basically, You do not link a domain to WordPress, but to the host, means to the place where the website “lives”.
  So you have to contact your host provider to get all necessary info and set the domain at domain provider menu accordingly.
