Push subscription email
-
I’ve just received an email from WordPress, triggered by a blogger who used my email address to invite me to subscribe. That blog is: https://eachlettermakeaword.wordpress.com/ On looking at that site, it presents as spam, as a result of a writing style that presents as automated, and basic grammar issues with the front page.
This aside, I’ve never before received a ‘push subscription’ of this kind from WordPress, in which somebody apparently nominates subscribers based on email or username. Does anybody have any further information on this? And in what way can a blogger obtain my email address via WordPress? (I am aware the user might have obtained it in some other manner).

Hi @mjwrightnz, we do allow site owners to invite subscribers, but we don’t give out user info or anything like that. And, we do have some measures in place to prevent bulk-invites.
I’d say the address looks more like a new blogger than spam, personally, since spam usually launches right into something they’re trying to sell. So it’s possible they have your address in some other way (do you know this person?) or that they typoed an address for someone they actually intended to invite.
