Put seperate posts on seperate pages
-
G’day,
I am totally new to the whole blogging thing, so please forgive me if this is not the right area to ask my question / it is already addressed elsewhere.
Okay, I have a new blogsite, via http://www.wordpress.com (it is not self hosted, external self hosted, no pro features purchased, nor premium features etc etc.
The blogsite is about pc advice and tips that I have learned over the years. One page I have created is called Hardware, one Software, one Networking, etc.Righto, I want to put up a new post, about hard disk drives, and I want the post to ONLY be on the Hardware page. Two days later I have two new posts, about anti virus and backups, so I want to post them up onto the Software page ONLY. I want these three, and all new posts, to be able to be read by all, and for the readers to leave comments.
Want to have this, deliberate, separation of posts, into pages (i.e., don’t want to have a post, number 28, on the home / main page, talking about printers, amongst all of the other posts (hardware, software, networking, etc, etc).
How can I do this ?, please (any and all comments tremendously appreciated).
Thanks heaps, and then some, in advance,
Jeff -
Pages are static and sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot put posts on “pages.” All posts will show on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page. See this support document on the differences between pages and posts.
At wordpress.com, you organize posts by categorizing them and then you can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and put the categories into the custom menu.
If you do not want all the posts to show on the main page, then you can create a static front page for your site. If you wish, you can also create a “blog” page, but you do not have to if you do not want to.

G’day,
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.
Right you are, re pages and posts. After reading your advice above, I have been fiddling (the best way is just get in and start doing something), and I think I am on the right road….have put together a number of categories, and placed them on my sidebar widget (hardware, software, networks, etc).
Two thumbs up, thanks again.
